Into the tower, smells blood like on the walls. V checks himself first, but then “the tower is alive and sdomeone cut a hole in it.” He takes a look; no catch or latch that you can see. A looks around with help: looks at the alcove. A nudges it with their toe. “it feels like stone.” V shoulder tackles it but just slips in the blood pool. L tries wit the point of her sword.

A casts detect magic as they hang out. During, L attacks 2x, then hammer and chisel with V’s Warhammer to break it down. They crawl out!

The alcove has resealed itself as DZ’s body fades away. G offers healing light to L. V didn’t know that could happen. He didn’t know he could do that. “Did I hurt Laurie?” No, and she shakes his hand.

“Gen told me and I did it!” “Yeah, Gennie knows her stuff sometimes.”

As they climb the stairs, they hear DZ break free and stomp off around the first level.

They talk a little about where they’re from – G mentions cragpine, A talks al ittle about the library. At the top of the tower, wind blows, pushes them down

L/V trade high fives. They climb to the top of the tower. They find the armor and the chalk drawing. a/V recognize it as old. V wants L to wear it. A calls to M: you here? L suggests another séance if they talk to them, but that might attract bad attention. G figures it’s Mara’s armor. They think Mara prayed to R, but L thinks it’s actually Theodora praying to Ezra. G proposes selling the armor, or A wearing it, but A laughs. “That’s a very generous of you to think I could do anything about that.”

L suggests stealthing downstairs. They rush too much

A: If we dress L up in that armor that would really set him off.

L thinks that might not be a bad idea if they have to distract him.
L: sometimes we have to put ourselves in danger to protect the ones we love

V to Gen: I turned into a wolf.

A is already laying down. They short rest. [Laurie rolls 4 hit dice for 21 points of recovery)

They talk about doing the séance or not. A is in favor, because they’re so low on magic. G agrees with A. V is ready to go to the basement. What about L/Gen? L is ready to go downstairs. Gen is of 2 minds – she doesn’t want DZ to link up wth the entity and get a powerup. Also, either mara knows the entity or she doesn’t… and which is worse?

Gen suggests going up to that other lockbox – also it will distract DZ if he catches them. L puts on the Mara’s ring mail. Gen casts barkskin on her.

L steps out the door,

o G runs outside, feeling along the wall, guiding bolts on peryton,

Gen casts gust of wind to clear the fog. (V thinks it’s part of the house – the cloud and the dispelling)

They hear coughing from the master bedroom. V is worried that someone might be sick. G and A try to convince him, L says “we’ll check it on the way down” and mouths “no” to G.

A takes the bag of holding. In the footlocker, tall custom-made suits, 13 silver, an amulet bearing the symbol of a skull surrounded by a skeletal ouroboros. V takes the suits, G takes the rest.

A hears him stomping up the stairs. They talk quickly, do they fight? They could hide and wait for

They go to the roof. It’s storming, and A keeps themself together. G cast minor illusion: heroic woman’s voice pretending to be Mara “wretched man, come fight me!” (intimidation 7) L will stand in sight of the door, A casts protection from evil and good. They hide: V 14, A 13, G 19.

“What, you think you can trick - you. I’ll fucking KILL YOU!”

She winks at V. Lightning flashes behind her.
