The house is creepy and the storm begins raging. Gift grabs the toys. V digs the splinters out of his teeth, and just crunches it to spit it out.

They make it back down the parlor. It’s safer her, shadows aren’t as creepy. V thinks it’s Gen and L. L: what did you find? G: there’s something wrong with the house. We have children dolls now. We activated something… we don’t know what happened.

They came here to find out what happened to the house. It’s getting more dangerous and they expected. But they’ll pay everyone and they can leave.

G: can we even leave?

L + G explain the mist talisman. But… sometimes you can’t leave, b ut it’s usually a conscious decision by something trapped here, and they don’t think they’re quite there yet.

V is against leaving. Under the house is the cause of all this. He doesn’t want other people to stay here, and he doesn’t want to leave them to end up staying here. G is willing to leave, but is still curious. A is totally checked out, but G notices. G asks A if they want to leave. A defers. V takes this as assent, although G isn’t convinced.

V brings up the idea of another séance. A and G explain thety were planning on doing a séance before they went into the nursery to find out what to do. So now they want to talk to Theodra and figure out what she wants. A has a good idea there’s something under the house that needs to be dealt with, what do Gen + L want to do? It’s almost time to make a decision about what everyone needs to do.

Gen/L will explore the basement at some point ,but they don’t know if they’re equipped to deal with it. Might just b e recon before going to find a priest. But they do have a job to do it.

In conversation, someone asks A what they think? A thinks going intot he basement at all is extremely risky, we’ll be completely in over our heads. G: A, you clearly know something about this situation. A: something evil is under the house. G: In more detail than that, please. A thinks for a moment. A asks “If I’m right, if it’s way over our heads, and we knew that beforehand, would you leave or stay?” G: leave. V: stay. A: even though you could be stuck here forever? V: I’d rather get in trouble doing something good than get out. V is firm that this is his problem, even tho G disagrees – they don’t know Gen/L at all or the halvhrests.

A: I believe there is a force here, the one under the house. This force was deemed in need of containment or punishment. When that happened, the punishment was to force it to appear here, feeding off the same cattle over and over again… A zones out. Gen puts down a cup of water for A to drink. L is trying to not tap her foot though. A: the people, the ghosts in this house, Theodora, the children, I don’t think they have anything to do with that. V is right, they will suffer for an eternity because someone decided the force needed to be punished. If something needs to be trapped like this in its own plane, I don’t think were’ up to the task of killing it.

G quietly considers this. V doesn’t understand the stakes so “I still want to try.” G: can we free the children and Theodora without letting this thing escape? A: idk. G: if we do choose to stay, that should be our goal, rather than stopping whatever is under there. V: we don’t know it’s this big bad punish thing. It could just be a ghost. G: I’m inclined to believe A. V insists he gets it.

Gen: I agree with A, it may not be possible to end this kind of threat. Not everhthing in the mists is being punished. Some things are here in the mists because they warp things around it, not because someone decided it should be punished. One thing too is that it’s possible to beat the house back without defeating it. I also think Theodora has asked you to do something, and that might deal a blow to the house.

A: could we get back if we tried to leave? G: we could always do the séance.

L invites theodra.

G: what do you want us to do with your children? T: (images manifest) “get them out” A: and then what? T: all will be well. V: is the thing beneath the house being contained? T: No. G: is it being punished? T: No. A: how powerful is it? T: (stops at the full moon) A: how do we free you and the chimney witch? T: get them out. A: is that “if you get them out we’ll be safe too”? T: (moves to the eye and just stays there) V: do you and the chimney witch have vessels like your children do? T: No. G/A: can we put you in vessels? T: No. V: will stopping the thing under the house get you and the Chimney Witch out. T: No. Get them out. (A: she might be saying “get them out and they’ll be ok” or she might be saying “get them out and we’ll all be ok”) G: what’s that bag upstairs? T: (the glyph) [A knows it means “magic”, L: “now that you’ve pointed that out, it’s obvious”] A: we’re going under the house, whether you want us to or not. T: Get them out, please. Be careful. Farewell. (the séance ends)

G likes she said please. A realizes that if they fall, the children wont’ be warded. A: if someone leaves, it should be someone with the best chance of getting out. I don’t think I have anything to get us out… G: you could hold on to us? Persuasioin 25 to have the twins take them out.

The twins don’t like the plan, but accept its strength. They don’t like the idea of leaving them behind. They’re willing to take the chance, but they want to know more – and have this be a Plan B. if things get hairy, they can just go. G puts the toys on the table. Also, if they need to retreat, this is where they can meet up.

September 27, 1335

They long rest. [they could ask the chimney witch for a spare key. They not go to the top of the tower. Also grab the bag. G identifies the wand of magic missiles.] they put down

V apologizes to Gen for being sexist by suggesting she should be the one to leave. Maybe he can think a little bit about what he says in the future btu she appreciates the sentiment.

Vito has a nightmare. He dreams of Theodora who takes him upstairs, to the nursery. She disappears V: theodora’s husband? he shakes his head and steps into the room. V: dad? he smiles sadly and shakes his head. E: My name is Ezra. V: sup. E: I have kept those children safe for a very long time. V: me and my friends are gonna get them out and keep them safe. I know we can go into the basement and fix things. E: If you want to see this through the end. I believe you can do what you set out to. What’s important to you, V? V: helping Theodora and keeping people safe. E: Focus on that. Straying from that path can be dangerous. V: I won’t… wait!

He wakes up on the roof. He stays there for a bit. He goes downstairs, he keeps hearing footsteps behind him. V says Ezra when he hears the footsteps, and they stop. and he gets downstairs.

September 28, 1335… (27?)

He wakes everyone up by closing the door. G: uhhhhh why are you wet? : I went up to the roof. G: uhhh why? (A dries him off with shape water) V: the man said… this is not my strong point. If I do what I want to do, I will do what I want to do. (he think sfor a moment) he said he kept the kids safe… L drops the cup. They’re in disbelief. Ezra is a divine figure, most worshiped in the mists. No one really knows much about him. V is convinced he’s a good guy. “he had warmth in his eyes but metaphorically.”

V is annoyed at being interrupted. He explains that he thinks Ezra is saying if they go downstairs, they’ll be doing the right thing. A wonders that leaving would accomplish the same thing though?

A asks the twins. They’re a little uncomfortable. They’re a little creeped out that Ezra is taking an interest in the situation. But if he appeared, then that’s a sign that there’s a chance things might work out. (Ezra’s symbol is the belladonna shield, also the raven, and A wonders if he sent the letters) V accidentally called E “dad” and E seemed to know dad was gone, he smiled sad, and so Did Gen and L, so V believes they’re all good people. V asks to be the authority and to be trusted since even though A/G who are smart but don’t’ know him and Gen/L know him but are also smart, but E talked to him.

A doesn’t care so much that a god is behind them. They’re a little… dismissive. No response from the chimney witch. Gen/L will stay behind and pack their things.

They go to the kitchen. Chimney witch manifests, but INITIATIVE

• Round 1: o V: doesn’t think it’s the chimney witch, rages, 1 hit. o CW: life drain to G, hit, drifts away through the house, AOO: V & G hit;

They go back to the parlor. “G nearly died again.” G is seething. Gen helps her sit down and drink tea. They don’t think it was the CW, just a ghost in the chimney. A: even if it was, who knows how the house nonsense is affecting them. “We need to believe in the chimney witch”.

They spend the day in the parlor. They don’t want to waste more time, but you need to give Gift time to rest. G tries to teach V how to read, but it goes badly. Gen is just another distraction after she comes over to help. V just tries to impress her, and G just doesn’t have patience. A is mostly just staring at the wall lost in thought.

LEVEL UP!

A is sitting there, stuck on what happened with G. it’s been a while since they’ve given a shit, they like V/G. Seeking G take the damage and be vulnerable, it seems so unfair. They only have one shot, unlike where they can die and die and die, and G could have been stuck here in this hell. They manage to come up with: what if I say no to that? What if I could change, something even small?

When G gets annoyed and goes to yell at the chimney, leaves Gen and V alone. He chills out after a bit, tired. Gen asks how he is after the other night. V doesn’t know what it means or what he’s supposed to do with it or if he’lls crew up and getting killed by them, or if G will get sick of him… one wrong move everything will go bad. Gen was also scared that she would hurt Laurie. V: who bit you? What? You were bitten? When their uncle’s fiancée fought them, she was bitten. She has been taking medicine since she was bitten. Does gift need to do that? No. her cures have gotten better. Also, it gives me peace of mind to take the medicine and meditate and study.

V: don’t tell G/A, but a few years ago my dad went missing… and my mom is the best, she’s big and strong, I didn’t know how to help her, it was the first time I felt any kind of anxiety. I was never that badass of a person, but… I was just chill and normal with good tiems and then everything fell apart and then all of a sudden my mom was alright and I don’t know how to talk to her. I don’t know how ot handle it because I’ve never had to handle something big. Gen uses magic so she tries to find peace. They talked about skimming earlier – maybe giving into it when you need it would burn off some of the extra. What if he hurts someone though by doing that? Well, you’ll have to train it like an animal, like one of Laurie’s dogs. V thinks she’s pretty much the coolest, although he doesn’t know if he’ll manage this like she will,but if she thinks it will work, he’ll try. He’s gonna miss her when this house thing is over.

G trades sight for improved weapon; her mage armor solidifies whenever you summon your weapon. She’s obsessed with the compact, staring at it… it’s in the room with her now. How are you doing? Bad. I can see that. Things have been a little… rough the last several fights. Basically every fight recently. D: you seem to be playin gin the big leagues now. G: I suppose… I ended up here. “Please can you help me?” D: of course! All you had to do was ask. Was that so hard? My goal is to bring help to those who ask for it. Now how can help you? G: I… need more attack power, I think. I need to not be hit so much. D: you could manifest some of your power as a weapon of your choice… Yes, I think you’re ready for this kind of responsibility. And perhaps a little misdirection could help. I think these are the right choices for you right now. But you would have to give up something… so the deal is struck. September 28, 1335…

They wake up. They talk about what to do; L floats the idea that exploring the tower might be a good idea, if it’s the odlest part and might be as old as the thing in the basement. L will go, Gen will stay behind. STONE HEADS BURST TO LIFE
