Steorra is the goddess of fate and the stars. She more generally rules over the sky and especially the night, and is the keeper of secrets. Her epithets include Starseer and Star-Walker.

Symbols and Depictions

Steorra is symbolized by seven stars, often arranged at the points of a seven-sided shape. She is also associated with a crown, especially surmounted by the seven stars. She is also associated with mirrors (as for scrying) and occasionally the globus cruciger, symbolizing oversight of the world.

She always appears and is depicted as female, and often older, sometimes a crone, wearing a blindfold or mask and a dark cloak. Although like all deities, Steorra can choose her appearance on the Material Plane, she most often appears as a human or elf.

Myths

Steorra is said to have been born when the world was new and the skies were still dark. The first time she cried as a baby, her tears created the first stars, and as she grew and wept from joy or heartache, so did the stars in the sky.

As the goddess of fate, it is said that she can see all that the stars, her children, can see. Through them she watched the struggles of mortals in the world. She was eventually so overcome with sadness that she donned a blindfold to stem the tide of visions.
