Appearance
Nergil is of an average height and build for a tiefling, with red skin and horns that bend backward close to his head and curve slightly out. He wears his hair swept back in a shaggy cut. (He takes better care of it ever since finding a TOTALLY HAUNTED hairbrush.) He has somewhat eccentric taste in fashion, preferring dark clothes, unnecessarily deep V-necks and too many accessories. Currently his most prized possession is his Cloak of Many Fashions, which he frequently changes to suit his mood. He is on Team Horns-Tail-Boots. There is usually at least one unexplained and impractical buckle somewhere on his attire.
Relationships
Family
Parents
Zaadel, demon of Anomalous Favors, Flaming Eyesores, and Shivers: Nirgel's dad and patron. It's complicated. He is not held in high regard by the Diabolical Court, but he's someone to rely on for shadier business when upholding a lawful [evil] image is important. He bolsters his position through the money, information, and artifacts he can bring in from the Material Plane. To further those pursuits, over the last few centuries he has fathered a lot of tiefling children for whom he acts as a warlock patron. In addition to his own inherent diabolic powers, his base of power comes from devil "associates" (i.e. lackeys and henchmen) who work with him combined with the talents of his warlock children. The Court doesn't really care what he's up to since he poses no major threat to them and still takes care of what they need.
Unnamed Mother: She must have wanted something from Zaadel if she bore a child for him! He strikes deals with women who will have children for him in exchange for whatever they want. The mothers enter into the deal freely and know they won't have anything to do with the child (no cooerced pregnancy or baby kidnapping here). Maybe she wasn't that maternal, maybe she wanted something really desperately, maybe she just wanted to have a kid with that devil, who knows? Nirgel considers himself as not having a mother and has never been particularly curious. He does get his last name ("Hirsig") from her though, as do all the other siblings from their respective mothers. This is how he knows he has no full-blooded siblings.
Siblings
Damien: Older brother of a similar age. Good natured. What he lacks in guile he makes up for in passion for firey swords. Nirgel found him easiest to get along with out of everyone in the house (but probably everyone else in the house would say the same thing about Damien). He's not an idiot, but he's also not overly complicated. Less angst and subterfuge, more heXBox.
Being close in age, he, Dessi, and Nirgel spent a lot of time together as children. As they got older and specialized in different fields of expertise, they spent less time together. Nergil didn't really think of them when he struck out on his own, but after reconnecting in Swansing and working together, he regrets never even attempting to speak with them on the matter. He assumed Damien would be fine with the (flame sword) life with their father. Nergil still finds him easier to talk to than Dessi, which is why his name is in the tome for texting.
Dessi: Younger sister of a similar age. Obsessed with her three-legged dog imp, Champion. She would like everyone to know that she's bored, she hates it here, and she hates you (regardless of whatever her actual feelings are). Despite (or because of?) growing up together so closely, Dessi and Nirgel frequently snipe at each other. They are also by far the most similar of siblings, both in terms of their extreme aversion to emotional vulnerability and their incredible goth aesthetic. (The one thing they never disagreed on was how to decorate their shared room as teens.)
Nirgel didn't really think Dessi would care when he left. The moment she let Champion be dismissed instead of fighting the Lighthaus Inspectorz was when Nergil realized he hadn't judged her fairly. He regrets not sharing more of his honest thoughts regarding their father with her, and he thinks he can rely on her going forward...but he's still going to send his communication via Damien first, because oh my god she's such a bitch to him. (Nirgel is absolutely a bitch right back and has no room to talk.)
Decarabia: Older sister, about 40. She's very "Pact of the Blade" and a physically intimidating fighter. The type to carry out missions and keep her true feelings close to the chest. She instructs those who show promise with weapons, so Damien knows her much better than Nirgel does. Nirgel finds her mildly terrifying.
Dr. Leu: Older brother, pushing 60, actual name Leucis. Was not suited for the blade or magical combat, so he became the family doctor. He's terrible. No one is sure if he ever did enough to get a pact boon, and their father has been heard trying to get him to at least TRY studying with a hell cleric, at least. His cures are primarily leech-based, but his healing potions are a fun recreational drug. Everyone is pretty sure that's actually why he's still working.
Evan Escence: Younger sibling, probably about 14. Nergil doesn't know them well. Their name used to be "Eo" but they changed it a year and a half ago. Everyone was briefly alarmed that they'd fallen under the influence of a virtue tiefling somehow, but once it became apparent that they'd named themself after a bard song that "you wouldn't understand, Dad", no one really cared. (Nergil found this gossip out from Damien and Dessi while in Swansing.)
Modean: Older brother, late 30s. He has no cunning, no deceit, no martial skills, no strong magic...but my god, his spreadsheets. Modean keeps the books and ledgers for their father, as well as any records and paperwork. He took the Pact of the Amulet because he thought a jeweled necklace would be a good investment. He absolutely has more of a business relationship than a sibling relationship to Nirgel. As a young adult, Nirgel's main interactions with him mostly involved fighting about how those four rounds at the tavern were ABSOLUTELY a mission-critical expense and thus should not come out of personal funds. If Modean ever went to the material plane, he would become a legend among accountants. His personal style is pastels.
Nemeia: Older sister, now in her late 40s. Makes deals and connections in the material plane via her Only Fauns network of fans. Fantastic with a disguise kit. Nergil was happy when she stopped by the family home and had time to teach him things. A lot of the non-magical skills he learned as a younger teen were aided by her, including how to do the sickest winged eyeliner and the face alterering importance of contour. As an adult, he once saw a tattoo of a sexy tiefling on sailor at a tavern and he's 90% sure it was supposed to be her, to his horror.
Not Family
Situationship
Buphos: An aasmir pawn-shop owner based in Swansing. His true name is Bhultos. They met when Nirgel was searching Swansing's seedier neighborhoods for connections and leads. Buphos gave him a tip about a quest location, and Nirgel later brought the Lighthaus Inspectorz here to purchase gear before their trip to the fire plane. Some weeks later, a teleportation mishap led to Nirgel crashing at Buphos's place and hooking up with him. A short time after that, Nirgel came back to fence some loot and they hooked up again, after which Buphos wanted to Define The Relationship. For reasons he still can't fully rationalize to himself, Nirgel agreed to an exclusive situationship and had Buphos sign his tome so they could communicate via Far Scribe sending. Over time, Nirgel fell into the habit of taking out his tome and talking with Buphos during down time or before rest. It is, by far, the most he's ever talked with someone he slept with. He wasn't really interested in sharing this relationship with his friends, particularly since he wouldn't know how to articulate his feelings at this point, but Raen found out anyway. Nirgel is still telling himself it is casual, but Raen's circlet would probably be able to tell that's not true.
Lighthaus Inspektorz
Corrin: Corrin might be the person Nirgel has had the most fun with ever. He's so (comparatively) terrible at lying that Nirgel never doubts his sincerity. Nirgel is always down to join Corrin in a game or some wild conversation with a person they meet on their adventures (though he's also learned to be ready to step in whenever Corrin starts hitting on important government officials). Underneath the layers of fear and anxiety brought on by his brief death and resurrection, Nirgel was also profoundly moved by how much Corrin seemed to care about him. Nirgel is kind of blown away by how openly protective and loving Corrin is of him and everyone else in the party. He didn't bother having Corrin sign his sending list since they're usually hanging out together anyway.
Mino: Nirgel will never understand Mino's sense of justice (why would you give so much money away??), but he admires the conviction with which Mino does whatever he thinks is right. Plus he's terrifying in a fight and Nirgel is thrilled that they're on the same side! Nirgel still feels guilty about that charm spell a few months ago and absolutely deserved that punch (a learning moment about not fucking with friends' brains!), but he still thinks he was right about the demon summoning outside Redford and did NOT deserve that punch. He thinks they've moved past it though. Another quality of Mino's that Nirgel admires is his ability to move past stuff.
Pasky: Pasky was the first Lighthaus Inspector Nergil felt completely comfortable with. It's rare that Nirgel wants to protect something with no incentive, but Pasky inspires this in him. Nirgel is proud to see Pasky gaining confidence and coming into his own (and also really grateful because he keeps saving Nirgel...). He doesn't want the world to break Pasky.
Quilliam: Nirgel thinks he's very closed-minded about a lot of perfectly great magic, but he's continually impressed by the amazingly cool shit Quill does on the battlefield. His books are so boring, but he's so badass?? Also fun at Gnometoberfest. He feels like Quill trusts him a little more lately, and he's surprised by how much he wants that trust. He was very impressed at how good Quill was at conning Zip and thought they made a surprisingly great team.
Raen: Nirgel appreciates a kindred spirit who also doesn't want to talk about his feelings and enjoys drinking. Their recent telepathy with an ancient dragon that let them accidentally spy on their friends inner thoughts was a bonding experience (???). Nirgel is sometimes worried about Raen, who is very clearly still Going Through It, but he wouldn't really know what to say to him and wouldn't want to pry. Nirgel also feels like Raen wouldn't really pry, and thus he's more okay with Raen knowing his personal shit than he would be any other party member. Nirgel is delighted when Raen joins in on nonsense shenanigans, such as the ghost hunters ruse at the bathhouse.

Trivia
When writing in Common, Nergil enjoys spelling his name as many different ways as possible: Nergil, Nirgel, Nurgil, Pnirgyl, Nyrgill, Phnyrggul, Mneyghuiylles, etc.
He judges his fellow Inspectorz for not seeing the value in gold teeth. They are very cool and normal.
